Devil’s Lake State Park, Baraboo, WI  

This scenic Wisconsin park is located just north of Madison and is a favorite among kayakers and canoers. You can paddle around the lake and soak in the view of the Devil’s Lake rock formations that make Devil’s Lake famous. This park becomes busy in the summer, so try to get there earlier in the day.

Minocqua Lake, Minocqua, WI

Minocqua is home to over 2,300 bodies of water! According to the Minocqua tourism department, there are 68 lakes in this area designated as Wilderness, Wild, or Scenic. You’ll be able to find a peaceful spot to paddle around in and see lots of wildlife. We recommend you start on or near Minocqua Lake to get an idea of what the area has to offer.

Horicon Marsh, Horicon, WI 

This is the largest freshwater cattail marsh in the United States! The best way to really experience the beauty of the marsh is to paddle through it in a kayak or canoe. The marsh is also a wildlife refuge, so you see many species of animals and birds up close as you paddle across this scenic land formation.

 

Apostle Islands – Madeline Island Sea Caves, Bayfield, WI  

The Apostle Islands has a few different spectacular kayaking areas. However, if you’re a beginner and want to see an unforgettable view, then check out the Madeline Island Sea Caves. This area is great for beginners to test their sea legs and for expert kayakers to enjoy. Just take the ferry from Bayfield to Madeline Island to enjoy this kayak destination.

 

Cave Point County Park,Door County, WI

Cave Point County Park is a beautiful park located in Door County on Lake Michigan. We would recommend going with a tour group for your first time in this area. It’s worth going in a group to make sure you see all the gorgeous area this park has to offer. View the caves from the water for an incredible view.
