Kayak racks have transformed the way that small boat owners can store their kayaks, canoes and stand up paddle boards. Log Kayak Rack offers a wide variety of storage systems that are durable, attractive and incredibly flexible, offering owners many different ways that the storage racks can be positioned to work best for your property and your climate. One question that is often asked of our team is whether our kayak racks can be secured to the ground, so that they are stationary and will not be stolen and can better withstand high winds, rain and other severe weather that you may battle in your area. The answer is yes! Log Kayak Rack’s storage racks can absolutely be secured to the ground.
Guidelines for Securing Kayak Racks
The storage systems designed and built by Log Kayak Rack can be bolted to any wood surface (indoors or outdoors) with wood screws. You can decide to purchase a kit from Log Kayak’s online store, or purchase your own. Here are basic directions to guide you through this process:
- Place the sharp tip of a spiral ring anchor into the dirt near the bottom center of the rack, if you are using one twist anchor. If you are using more than one, evenly space them out.
- Twist the anchor by hand so that it spirals into the soil. Do not stop twisting until the spiraled section is fully underground and all you see is the ring on the top of the anchor.
- Run a cable, straps or a chain through the ring at the top of the anchor, and then pass this same line over and around the center cross rail on the kayak rack.
- Secure the cable or chain using a small padlock or combination lock if desired. Tighten straps as needed to keep the storage rack tight to the anchors in the ground.
Benefits Of Kayak, Canoe and SUP Storage
Properly storing your kayak, canoe or stand up paddle board is extremely important. Proper storage protects your boat while it is not in the water, keeps it high and dry and minimizes the risk of damage to your boat and keeps the look and the shape of the boat fully intact. Dragging your boat out of the water after a fun adventure is no fun — but having a place to put your boat when you come out of the water makes it much easier. Log Kayak Rack makes all of their storage systems from high quality Northern White Cedar wood, which is known to last up to 25 years.
Depending on the number of boats you need to store, you can choose from all sizes of kayak storage racks. The racks can be kept indoors or out and can be freestanding or secured to the ground.
